Richard L. Eastline, CD '73, has been a writer and editor providing services to publications and authors for more than 15 years as Richline Wordshop Contributions include reviews of reference books on grammar and word usage plus editorial assistance involving subjects as diverse as biographies, electronics, and fine arts.

George Gabauer, CD '93, is a nature photographer and producer of digital fine art prints. An experienced wilderness canoeist, occasional guide and speaker, he travels extensively in the BWCA-Quetico-Superior region. In addition, he is a painter of military miniatures and author of books on nature poetry and pictographs.

Edward E. Gordon ,CD '00 is a professional writer specializing in the subjects of business, economics, history, and education. His 17 books and more than 300 articles cover such diverse topics as the global outlook on jobs and employment, literacy, and tutoring.

Geoffrey W. Gordon, CD '99, is an award-winning composer and former young resident artist member.

Robert Guinan, CD '84, has had his paintings exhibited throughout Europe for more than three decades. His work can be seen in art institutions in the U.S. and elsewhere, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. In his home town, Chicago, he is represented by the Ann Nathan Gallery

Poster Plus  is Chicago’s oldest retail gallery of vintage and contemporary posters. David Gartler, CD ‘84, is the owner-proprietor.

Robert J. Johnson, CD ‘87, a painter and sculptor, offers a survey of his work at his website.

The Chicago Chamber Orchestra,  founded and directed by Dieter Kober, CD ‘61, has been presenting free concerts to audiences in Chicago and elsewhere for more than 50 years.

Wesley James Drake,  is a member of the Artists-in-Residence program, Class of 2008. Galleries that exhibit his traditional, representational paintings are listed on his website.

Nora Williams, CD ‘08, is a professional violist who maintains a teaching studio at the Ossia School of Music in the Fine Arts Building downtown Chicago. She presents an Internet program of live music weekly (currently at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesdays) via The Nora Williams Hour..

The Caxton Club is an organization of authors, binders, collectors, conservators, dealers, designers, editors, librarians, publishers, and scholars who share a common interest in the arts pertaining to the production of books.

The Chicago Literary Club meets at The Cliff Dwellers on Monday evenings from October through May; several members belong to both clubs.

The Fine Arts Building in Chicago (a few blocks south of The Cliff Dwellers) has been home to the performing and classic arts for more than a century. It was here that the concept for our club was discussed and approved. An “open studios” visitation occurs the second Friday of each month.

The Newberry Library maintains the official archives of Cliff Dwellers club documents.

West Salem, Wisconsin, is the location of Hamlin Garland’s home. Garland, a principal founder of The Cliff Dwellers, was born there and established a summer residence in his later years in the Garland Homestead , now maintained by the West Salem Historical Society. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
